Our Netherlands boat tours show off the beautiful Wadden Islands of the Wadden Sea, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Doing some island hopping is a fun way to enjoy life aboard a historic sailing ship with new friends to share the adventure! We hop from island to island so you can explore sand dunes, beaches, nature reserves, and so much more.
Throughout this tour by boat, you’ll love having the salty sea air in your hair, enjoying the views out to the horizon as you meet other travellers and explore unique landscapes and destinations.
On the Wadden Sea, we live by the rhythm of the tides and the weather. For this reason, the exact route of our island hopping will be discussed day by day. The skipper will explain the options for the next island based on the weather conditions, the tides, and the wind direction.
Whichever route we end up taking, these islands are some of the best Netherlands vacation spots you could enjoy! Step away from Amsterdam and come enjoy the natural beauty and interesting local culture of the other provinces of the Netherlands.
The Wadden Islands are part of the province of Friesland. You might also like this Friesland tour of the southeastern part of the province, where you can explore nature reserves and visit lesser-known destinations in the Netherlands.

Your Netherlands boat tour begins in Harlingen on the mainland. From there, you will sail toward Texel, the most western and the largest of the Wadden Islands. You can find almost everything the mainland has to offer on Texel. In addition to the extensive beaches and varied natural landscapes, you can undertake a wide range of activities here. A visit to the Ecomare seal sanctuary should not be missed.
Today you will explore Vlieland. This beautiful, idyllic, compact island makes you really feel that you are in the middle of nature.
What you can certainly do on Vlieland is a ride with the Vliehors Express. You ride with a horse and cart over the beach, to the far end of Vlieland. There is an abandoned rescue house with relics that were once fished on the beach. Enjoy the vastness and beautiful views of the island.
Terschelling is probably the most popular island as a Netherlands vacation spot. There is so much you can do here that you won’t get bored easily. That’s why we will stay on this island for two days so you have enough time to explore the island.
We recommend you take a nice bike ride from West-Terschelling to the tip of Oosterend and walk further through the Boschplaat Nature Reserve. Or stroll at your leisure through the bustling village streets of the villages West, Midsland, or Formerum.
Today, you can continue discovering all the natural beauty and lively character of the island of Terschelling.
Your boat tour in the Netherlands continues as you sail toward the island of Ameland. Ameland is a lovely island with a varied range of activities, including extensive and diverse nature. A beautiful white sandy beach with high dune pans is located on the North Sea side of the island and you can visit nice museums and places of interest in the various villages.
On this last day of your boat tour, we will sail back to Harlingen. It is a long way to Harlingen, but we take it easy and enjoy the journey. To top off your Netherlands boat trip, the skipper will try falling dry to give you this unique local experience. You will see the tide pull away from aboard your ship and watch as it rises again a few hours later. You can stand with your feet on the bottom of the Wadden Sea and discover the most beautiful underwater world. If this isn’t feasible today, you could sail back via Terschelling instead.
If you were able to experience falling dry, then you will wait for the ship to come loose from the bottom of the sea before sailing back towards Harlingen at your leisure. There, you will moor and set foot on the mainland again, after an unforgettable adventure!

With a professional background in the nonprofit sector working in international development, we are keenly aware of the impact tourism can have on a destination and its people.
That’s why we choose to bring your focus away from driving long distances, and instead offer alternatives such as bikes, sailboats, kayaks, or simply walking to reach a destination where possible.
Moreover, in order to give you the most authentic experience, we give preference to small local hotels, B&B’s, and campsites. In these spaces, you can connect with the Dutch culture in an authentic way and experience the cities and villages of the Northern Netherlands.
